New location, old cast? A while ago, “Ghostbusters” fans were enraptured by the news that the new edition “Ghostbusters: Legacy”, which was released in 2021, was to receive a sequel. According to media reports, it has now also been confirmed that three of the series’ guarantors of success will return: Bill Murray (72), Sigourney Weaver (73) and Dan Aykroyd (70) will once again shoulder the proton packets according to information from the British “The Sun”.
Why “The Sun” of all people claims to have found out about this could be due to the allegedly planned location of the film. According to this, the ghosts are not out of control this time in the USA – especially New York – but are terrorizing England’s capital London. The location is “perfect” because it offers “classic landmarks of British history”. So will Big Ben be haunted soon or will the king even have to use the services of the ghost hunters?
But there is still one name missing: What about the third ghost hunter who is still alive from the (almost) first hour, Ernie Hudson (77) aka Winston Zeddemore? He had previously indicated as a guest on the “Kelly Clarkson Show” that he was once again part of the team. The newly introduced stars from “Legacy”, above all Paul Rudd (53), Carrie Coon (42), Finn Wolfhard (20) and Mckenna Grace (16), will also be in front of the camera again.
About a month ago it was announced that one of the screenwriters of “Ghostbusters: Legacy”, Gil Kenan (46), will take a seat in the director’s chair in its sequel. The first part was realized by Jason Reitman (45), the son of Ivan Reitman (1946-2022), who in turn launched the first two “Ghostbusters” strips in 1984 and 1989.
The first reports of another “Ghostbusters” part were already circulating through the Internet in June of last year. Industry website “Deadline” even reported at the time that the start date for this year would be in December. It is not known whether the time window envisaged at the time still applies.
