Ben Affleck (50) cannot recommend his colleague and best friend Matt Damon (52) as a roommate. In “The Late Late Show with James Corden” the US actor talked about the time when the two lived as young actors together with Affleck’s brother Casey (47) in a flat share in Los Angeles.

“Matt is a wonderful guy. I love him. He’s my best friend. He’s always been great to me. He’s a brilliant guy,” Affleck gushed of Damon. “But I wouldn’t recommend living with him,” he jokes in conversation with moderator James Corden (44). “Matt hasn’t paid a bill to date, as far as I know.”

Damon has the ability to “just tune things out,” Affleck explains. One of the things he likes to suppress is “the idea that when you’re done with something you have to wash it up or throw it in the trash”.

After a while, Ben Affleck and his brother finally made a decision to finally force Damon to do housework: “After years of cleaning after the guy, we decided to go on strike and see how long it would be before he finally gets up and goes, ‘Oh god, I’m covered in trash’.”

However, the strike was unsuccessful. The brothers didn’t lift a finger in the apartment for two weeks, which in turn didn’t motivate Matt Damon to clean up. “One day, Casey and I came home and Matt was sitting in the living room in shorts and a t-shirt playing a video game surrounded by a circle of trash. I found pizza boxes and a week-and-a-half-old sushi box full of maggots.”

At the latest at this sight, the Affleck brothers would have capitulated: “Casey and I said, ‘We surrender. You’re too good at it. We can’t beat you.'”

The friendship between the two actors, who have known each other since they were children, does not seem to have been harmed by their shared flat share. Affleck and Damon are very close, perform regularly together and have appeared in front of the camera together on numerous occasions.

Currently, for example, for the film “Air: The Big Throw”, which has been in cinemas since April 2023. Affleck and Damon co-star and both served as producers. Affleck also directed.
