Grimme Prizes for the children’s classic “Our Sandman”, for the sixth time for satirist Jan Böhmermann and for a special cooking show by TV chef Tim Mälzer: the coveted awards for particularly successful TV shows were presented at a gala in the Marler Stadttheater on Friday evening .

At the beginning of the gala, the director of the Grimme Institute, Frauke Gerlach, praised the “excellent prize year”. 16 of the non-endowed, but highly renowned prizes plus three special prizes are awarded.

The Vox show “Zum Schwarzwälder Hirsch – an extraordinary kitchen crew and Tim Mälzer” particularly stood out. In addition to a jury award in the entertainment category, it also received an audience award. TV chef Mälzer works in the show with people with trisomy 21 and trains them for the nerve-wracking job in the kitchen of a restaurant.

The special honor of the Adult Education Association (DVV), the award donor, goes to the cabaret artist Maren Kroymann – the first woman with her own satirical show on German television.

Classic receives award for the first time

The decades-old classic in the children’s program, the Sandman, received an award for the first time. The production for the RBB “Sandman Frame: Recycling Vehicle” shows how something new can be created from waste, defective or old parts.

Jan Böhmermann was honored on Friday together with his team, which combines satire with investigative research in a rare combination, as it was said. The gala, moderated by Jo Schück, will be recorded and broadcast on 3sat from 10:25 p.m. in a two-hour summary.
