Since an investigation last year, Marvel star Chris Hemsworth (39) has known that he is at a greatly increased risk of developing Alzheimer’s one day. Immediately after this shocking news, the actor announced that he was “taking a break”. Instead of shooting several films a year as usual after that, he will apparently significantly reduce his Hollywood presence in the future, reports the celebrity page “Page Six” of the “New York Post”.

Hemsworth is currently working on an “Avengers” sequel and a biopic about wrestler Hulk Hogan (69) – he signed these contracts before he found out about his increased risk of Alzheimer’s. According to the latest reports, he has made the decision to remain true to his profession after these two projects. He will only do this in a significantly reduced form.

This also ties in with what Hemsworth said about four months ago about his three children: “Before you know it, they’ll be 18 and left home, and I’ve missed the window.” He wants to avoid that at all costs.

Last year in the Disney and National Geographic series Limitless, Hemsworth set out to find ways to fight aging and extend his life. He also underwent medical examinations, which revealed that he had inherited the APOE4 gene from both his mother and father. This increases the possibility of him developing Alzheimer’s eight to tenfold.

“They took all my blood work and ran a series of tests. The plan was to share the results with me on camera and talk about how we could improve this and that,” Hemsworth said. The show’s doctor preferred to tell him the results over the phone. “It was pretty shocking,” the Thor actor recalled.

He was also offered to do the episode without mentioning the results, which he declined for selfless reasons. “If that motivates people to take better care of themselves and understand that there are steps you can take, then so much the better.”
