US actress and singer Selena Gomez has given her transplanted kidney the name of a popular US comedian and “Saturday Night Live” star.
“I named her after Fred Armisen,” the 30-year-old, who underwent a kidney transplant in 2017, told The Rolling Stone magazine.
According to Gomez, she was primarily inspired to name her new organ by Armisen’s satirical series “Portlandia”, which she loves. “I’ve never met him, but I secretly hope he finds out.” He should calmly think: “Oh, that’s really strange.”
Gomez, who currently stars in the mystery comedy series Only Murders in the Building, was diagnosed with the autoimmune disease lupus in 2013, which was affecting her kidneys. The new organ was donated by a friend.
