Adele has undergone quite a transformation over the past year. The once curvy singer is said to have lost around 45 kilos, according to media reports. A combination of intense exercise and a change in her eating habits made this possible. But she didn’t want to do without fast food – her last meal would still be a McDonald’s menu.
Speaking to British Vogue, Adele insisted: “I haven’t dieted – if anything, I’m eating more than I used to because I’m training so hard.” The 33-year-old said in an interview that she hadn’t followed any special diet plan and the kilos still tumbled. According to some media reports, however, the singer is said to have avoided processed foods, sugar and full-fat dairy products. Since her weight loss, Adele has followed this disciplined eating plan:
Speaking to Vogue, Adele said she doesn’t do intermittent fasting and that breakfast would be part of the daily schedule. She said that in earlier years, to start the day, she “drank ten cups of tea a day with two lumps of sugar in each.” Today, her breakfast is healthy and balanced, such as a soy yoghurt with mixed berries, chopped walnuts and dark chocolate.
Adele admitted she was doing “rigorous weightlifting and circuit training sessions every day”. Sometimes even “twice a day” when she was concerned about not burning enough calories. The singer said she did this for three years. For lunch, too, she opted for healthy meals like a kale salad with parsley, celery, apples and walnuts with olive oil and lemon juice.
Adele loves to cook and has in recent years turned to TV chef Jamie Oliver for cooking inspiration. She told British Vogue: “I might have learned to cook by myself when I was 18.” Adele added: “I read old Jamie Oliver’s ’30-Minute Meals’. That’s how I learned the basics of cooking.”
Adele did not give up alcohol during her weight loss. On the contrary, she discovered a new favorite rosé called “Whispering Angel”. The slimmed-down singer admitted, “My first trip to the grocery store is Whispering Angel and ketchup.” Of course, she now drinks the numerous cups of tea a day without sugar.
Like many people who want to lose weight, Adele worked with a so-called “cheat day”. A day when everything is allowed, as a small reward in the eternally healthy food cycle of a diet. On this day, the singer celebrates fast food above all: “My ideal meal, my meal on death row, my last meal would be Chicken McNuggets with a Big Mac and then fries. That’s my three-course meal. I eat it at least once per week!”
