Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to make a significant impact in Varanasi, his parliamentary constituency, as he embarks on a momentous visit this Friday, April 11, 2025. The much-anticipated event will not only witness Modi addressing a massive public gathering but also marking the inauguration and laying of the foundation stones for a staggering 44 projects valued at ₹3,880 crore. Key Infrastructure Projects

As the excitement builds up for the Prime Minister’s visit, Varanasi Divisional Commissioner Kaushal Raj Sharma sheds light on the diverse range of projects that will be unveiled. From rural development initiatives to urban beautification projects, the focus is on elevating the quality of life for the residents of Varanasi. Among the notable projects are the inauguration of 130 drinking water projects, 100 new Anganwadi centres, and 356 libraries aimed at fostering education and community development. Additionally, the launch of a polytechnic college in Pindra and a government degree college mark a significant step towards enhancing educational opportunities in the region.

In a bid to strengthen urban infrastructure, PM Modi will inaugurate projects at iconic locations such as Shastri Ghat and Samne Ghat. The beautification projects spearheaded by the Railways and the Varanasi Development Authority (VDA) are set to redefine the cityscape, offering a visual treat to both residents and visitors alike.

Focus on Electricity Infrastructure and Security

The foundation stones for 25 projects, valued at ₹2,250 crore, will be laid with a primary focus on bolstering Varanasi’s electricity infrastructure. This ambitious undertaking includes the construction of 15 new substations, installation of transformers, and the laying of 1,500 km of power lines. Noteworthy among these projects is the establishment of a new 220 kV substation near Chaukaghat, which aims to ensure round-the-clock electricity supply for the city.

In addition to infrastructure development, the Prime Minister’s security has also been given top priority. Police Commissioner Mohit Agrawal and ADG Security Raghuveer Lal revealed the extensive security measures in place for the event. A substantial deployment of six SPs, eight additional SPs, 33 COs, and around 4,000 personnel from police, PAC, and paramilitary forces will be on high alert to safeguard Modi during his visit. Stringent security protocols, including rooftop surveillance, CCTV monitoring, and crowd control measures, have been meticulously planned to ensure a safe and seamless event.
