A prominent figure in the religious community, Pastor John Jebaraj, was recently arrested in connection with a disturbing case of alleged sexual assault on two minor girls. The arrest, carried out by a special team of the Coimbatore City Police, took place in Munnar, Kerala, following a week-long search for the pastor. Pastor Jebaraj, 37, who leads the Kings Generation Church on Cross Cut Road in Coimbatore, was apprehended late on Saturday, April 12, 2025, and swiftly transported back to Coimbatore the next morning.
The accusations against Pastor Jebaraj stem from a party hosted at his residence in Coimbatore on May 21, 2024, during which he is alleged to have sexually assaulted two girls aged 17 and 14. One of the survivors bravely stepped forward to file a complaint at the All Women Police Station in Coimbatore, prompting a swift response from law enforcement. The pastor was booked under Sections 9(l) (m) (aggravated sexual assault) and 10 (punishment for aggravated sexual assault) of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
The hunt for Pastor Jebaraj, who had been evading authorities, was led by City Police Commissioner A. Saravana Sundar, who mobilized three special teams under Assistant Commissioner of Police T.H. Ganesh to track down the suspect. To prevent any escape attempts, a lookout notice was issued against Jebaraj. After receiving credible information that the pastor was hiding in Munnar, a dedicated team, led by inspector R. Arjun Kumar, swiftly moved in and made the arrest.
Upon being brought back to Coimbatore, Pastor Jebaraj appeared before a judge and was remanded in judicial custody until April 25. This development has sent shockwaves through the community, particularly among the pastor’s extensive following on social media platforms, where he was known for his Christian devotional songs and live performances.
