In a heartening display of commitment to the agricultural community, NTR District Collector G. Lakshmisha reassured local farmers that every grain of paddy would be procured for the rabi 2024-25 season. Amidst the backdrop of the sprawling Polavaram Canal Bund area, the Collector personally inspected the paddy fields, meticulously assessing the moisture content in the grains to ensure optimal quality. Witnessing the loading of stocks onto lorries for transportation to the mills, Mr. Lakshmisha’s hands-on approach underscored his dedication to facilitating a seamless procurement process for the farmers.
Ensuring Smooth Operations
During his visit, the Collector announced the mobilization of additional lorries to expedite the transfer of the entire paddy stocks to the mills by the following evening. This proactive measure aimed to minimize any disruptions in the procurement process, showcasing Mr. Lakshmisha’s proactive leadership in addressing logistical challenges head-on. Furthermore, a teleconference with key officials from various departments, including civil supplies, revenue, and agriculture, highlighted a collaborative effort to support farmers and streamline operations.
With an estimated district-wide paddy production capacity of 1,66,470 metric tonnes, the ongoing harvest has yielded 38,667 metric tonnes of grains thus far. Of this total, 9,223 tonnes valued at ₹18.81 crore have already been successfully procured from 601 farmers. Notably, the swift disbursal of payments directly into the farmers’ accounts within 24 hours exemplifies the Collector’s commitment to ensuring timely and transparent transactions.
Promoting Accessibility and Support
Emphasizing accessibility and support for farmers, the Collector detailed the daily procurement rate of 900-1,100 metric tonnes of paddy grains through 107 Rythu Seva Kendras (RSKs) scattered across the district. This decentralized approach not only facilitates efficient grain collection but also fosters a direct connection between farmers and procurement centers, enhancing transparency and communication.
To further enhance support mechanisms, a dedicated control room at the district level stands ready to assist farmers with any concerns or queries related to paddy procurement. By providing a designated helpline number (77020 03571), the Collector ensures that farmers have a direct line of communication to address any issues promptly, underscoring a commitment to responsiveness and customer service.
As the sun sets on another productive day in the paddy fields of NTR District, the tireless efforts of NTR Collector G. Lakshmisha and his team resonate with a sense of duty and dedication to the farming community. Through proactive measures, transparent processes, and accessible support systems, the promise of procuring every grain of paddy stands as a testament to the unwavering commitment to the agricultural backbone of the region. With each grain harvested and each transaction completed, the symbiotic relationship between farmers and officials blooms anew, nurturing a cycle of prosperity and mutual respect that sustains the agricultural landscape for generations to come.
