The upcoming station at Inderlok in New Delhi is set to revolutionize the city’s transportation network, providing improved connectivity and a seamless travel experience for commuters. Designed to integrate with the existing Inderlok Metro station, which currently serves Line 1 (Red Line) and Line 5 (Green Line), the new station aims to streamline the interchange process for passengers, making their daily commute more efficient and convenient.

According to a Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) official, the new station at Inderlok is being constructed to address operational needs and enhance passenger flow. The station will offer a paid-to-paid connectivity between the new corridor and the existing lines, significantly reducing transfer time and ensuring a smoother travel experience for commuters. Once completed, the new station’s platform will be utilized for Metro services, establishing a direct connection from Indraprastha to Mundka. Meanwhile, the existing platform will be repurposed as a property development area, maximizing the station’s potential.

The upcoming station at Inderlok will feature a range of modern amenities to cater to the needs of passengers. With a design tailored for trains with six coaches, the station will boast four lifts and eight escalators, providing seamless access for all commuters. Two lifts will connect the ground level to the concourse, while the other two will link the concourse to the platform. Additionally, the station will be equipped with automatic fare collection gates, simplifying the ticketing process for travelers.

As part of the construction process, a tender has been floated for the design and construction of the elevated viaduct and ramp. The remaining section of the Inderlok-Indraprastha corridor, which spans nearly 12.4km and includes 10 stations, will be developed in subsequent phases through separate tender packages. The corridor will feature a mix of underground and elevated sections, with nine underground stations covering 11.3km and one elevated station spanning 1km. Key stations along the corridor include Inderlok, Dayabasti, Sarai Rohilla, Ajmal Khan Park, Nabi Karim, New Delhi, LNJP Hospital, Delhi Gate, Delhi Sachivalaya, and Indraprastha, with five of these stations serving as interchange points.

Under the ambitious Phase IV expansion of the DMRC, the construction of three new corridors totaling 65km is currently underway. These corridors include Janakpuri West to RK Ashram, Majlis Park to Maujpur, and Aerocity to Tughlakabad. The Pink Line extension from Majlis Park to Maujpur, spanning 12.3km, is expected to be operational by 2025. The Golden Line from Aerocity to Tughlaqabad (23.6km) and the Magenta Line extension from Janakpuri West to RK Ashram (29.2km) are slated for completion by 2026, further expanding Delhi’s Metro network and enhancing accessibility for residents across the city.

With these exciting developments on the horizon, the future of Delhi’s transportation infrastructure looks brighter than ever, promising enhanced connectivity, improved passenger experience, and greater convenience for commuters navigating the bustling metropolis.
