In a recent development in Delhi, a 72-year-old man and his two sons, hailing from Bangladesh, were apprehended for residing illegally in the northwest area of Bawana. The trio had been living in the city for more than two decades, with the sons reportedly working as property dealers. The individuals in question were identified as Mustaq (72), Shahid Khan (28), and Mintu (32). The arrest was made following a tip-off received by the police regarding a family of illegal immigrants from Bangladesh residing in Bawana.
DCP (Crime) Aditya Gautam stated, “We monitored the activities of the accused and, upon confirmation, conducted a raid in JJ Colony, Bawana.” During the raid, the two brothers initially attempted to deceive the authorities by refuting any ties to Bangladesh and presenting falsified documents to establish their nationality. However, upon verification, these documents were proven to be counterfeit. Subsequently, after persistent questioning, the accused eventually admitted to their status as illegal immigrants. They confessed to entering India by illicitly crossing the border from Bangladesh and obtaining fraudulent documentation, such as birth certificates and Aadhaar cards, with the aid of locals in West Bengal and Delhi.
In a separate incident, another Bangladeshi national named Mohammad Monto was apprehended in southwest Delhi’s Mahipalpur. The police had received information about an undocumented migrant seeking accommodation in the area, prompting a team of officers to approach the individual and request identification documents. Failing to produce valid papers, the suspect acknowledged being an illegal migrant who had entered India 15 years ago. Following a thorough investigation and completion of legal procedures, Monto was transferred to the deportation center at the foreigners regional registration office.
