The Delhi High Court, on Tuesday (May 6, 2025), asked for AAP MLA Amanatullah Khan’s reply on a plea challenging his anticipatory bail in a case about attacking cops in Jamia Nagar. The court wanted to know what he had to say about it. Justice Ravinder Dudeja sent a notice to the MLA from Okhla because Delhi Police didn’t agree with the decision made by the trial court back on February 25. They were all like, “Nah, we don’t think so.” Amanatullah Khan got into trouble on February 10 for supposedly leading a mob and helping a wanted criminal escape from the cops. The police said the whole thing happened when they were trying to catch Shahwez Khan. The police lawyer said the trial court messed up by letting Amanatullah Khan off the hook without thinking about all the other cases against him. They were like, “Come on, man, you can’t just do whatever you want.” The police lawyer also said that the lower court acted like the case was already over when they decided that Amanatullah Khan could have anticipatory bail. But that’s not how it works, you know?
The trial court said on February 25 that Amanatullah Khan could have anticipatory bail. They told him to help with the investigation whenever the police asked him to. The judge thought that the crime Amanatullah Khan was accused of wasn’t that bad and that he didn’t need to be arrested. They also said that Shahwez Khan was in danger, so Amanatullah Khan had the right to defend himself. The case will continue on August 27. So, yeah, that’s the latest gossip in town.
