congress-proposes-removal-of-50-reservation-cap-details-on-caste-survey

So, like, the Congress Party leaders had this briefing thing at the AICC HQ in New Delhi on May 5, 2025. Dr. Anil JaiHind, Chairman of the OBC Dept at AICC, Rajesh Lilothiya, Chairman of the SC Department at AICC, and Dr. Vikrant Bhuria, Chairman of All India Adivasi Congress, were there to spill the beans. Oh, and there’s a photo credit to Shiv Kumar Pushpakar.

The Congress gang was all about demanding the Government to spill the tea on when they’re gonna do this whole caste survey thing, scrap that 50% cap on reservation, and make Article 15(5) of the Constitution a reality for reservation in private educational institutions. The heads of the SC and OBC departments, along with the Adivasi Congress, spilled the beans at a press conference at the Congress’ office on 24, Akbar Road.

Dr. Anil Jaihind from the AICC OBC Department was like, “Hey, remember when Manmohan Singh and Arjun Singh were running the show? They passed the 93rd Amendment and added Article 15(5) to give reservation in educational institutions for Dalits, Adivasis, and OBCs. But guess what? Private institutions took it to court, and it’s been a mess since. The Government has the power to provide reservation in private educational institutions, but they haven’t made it happen yet. It’s been 11 years, people!”

And then Rajesh Lilothiya from the AICC SC Department was like, “This 50% cap on reservation is a real buzzkill for social justice. Let’s get rid of it, shall we? Remember that 10% reservation for the general caste in the name of EWS? If they can do that, why not for the deprived and exploited folks, huh? Let’s push for removing that limit!”

Vikrant Bhuria, the big boss at Adivasi Congress, chimed in with, “The caste survey is gonna be a game-changer, mark my words. The BJP wasn’t too keen on it before, but now they’re singing a different tune. What’s the plan, BJP? We want details, not just fancy headlines. Show us the money!”

He also added, “The Government is only doing this ’cause they’re scared. Let’s see some real commitment to this caste census, okay?” The Government recently announced that caste enumeration would be part of the next general census, so let’s see how that goes.

Overall, the Congress leaders were all fired up about getting things moving on the reservation and caste survey fronts. It’s a waiting game now to see if the Government will step up to the plate and make it happen. Who knows what the future holds, right? Let’s hope for the best!
