So, like, the big shot VIP gallery at the spot where the Prime Minister is gonna give a speech to the public on May 2 in Amaravati was all set up on Tuesday. The whole shindig is gonna be happening, and it’s gonna be quite the event, you know? Photo Credit goes to T. VIJAY KUMAR, by the way.
All the prep work is done for Prime Minister Narendra Modi to kick off the Amaravati capital works on May 2. He’s gonna get things started by laying the groundwork for five towers in the Amaravati Government Complex, High Court, Legislative Assembly Building, and more. Minister for Municipal Administration and Urban Development P. Narayana spilled the beans to The Hindu on Tuesday, saying the government is aiming to finish building the whole capital city according to the master plan in just three years.
Mr. Narayana mentioned that the AP Capital Region Development Authority (APCRDA) gave the thumbs up to projects totaling over ₹64,000 crore, with contracts worth ₹43,000 crore already in the bag. The Prime Minister’s gonna kick things off for projects like the ginormous 250-ft.-high Amaravati iconic structure, the Amaravati Government Complex with its 50-storey GAD tower, and four other towers for the Secretariat, High Court, and Assembly buildings. He’ll also be laying the foundation for 4,000 flats in different apartment complexes, along with other facilities like roads, statues, and Happy Nest.
The APCRDA has pretty much wrapped up 80% of the arrangements for the Prime Minister’s visit, according to the Minister. All the government complexes are gonna cover an area of 1,450 acres, which is quite a lot if you think about it. Tenders have been put out for projects worth around ₹41,000 crore, and ₹5,000 crore has already been handed out to the contractors before 2019. The change in leadership caused a bunch of problems, like legal stuff and financial headaches, as Mr. Narayana pointed out.
He blamed the previous YSRCP government for messing things up by suggesting three capitals, which apparently slowed things down. It took almost nine months for the NDA government to sort everything out. More land is needed for various projects like the airport, sports city, and roads connecting Amaravati to the National Highway. The government’s been giving out developed plots to farmers and looking to acquire more land where necessary.
The airport’s gonna be placed somewhere between the inner and outer ring roads, depending on what the authorities think is best. When asked if the Prime Minister would kick off other projects like the airport, Mr. Narayana said it’s gonna take a bit longer. But hey, he’s confident that the Amaravati capital city will be ready for the public in three years. According to him, the Prime Minister’s been super supportive and generous with the financial backing.
So, that’s the scoop on the whole Amaravati situation. The Prime Minister’s gonna be making moves, and the government’s working hard to get everything up and running. It’s gonna be quite the sight to see once it’s all done, don’t you think?
