in recent weeks, for a majority of the French, “confined” is more synonymous with “couch” with ” frugality “. This is what reveals a study conducted by the Fifg for the site Darwin of Nutrition, which is dedicated to healthy eating. After these works, relayed by Le Parisien, this period of isolation did take to the French 2.5 kg on average. All, however, are not concerned, since only 57 % of those surveyed are rounded.
” The weight gain is not a problem in itself, and was predictable in a context of stress and energy expenditure limited. More time at home means more time devoted to the preparation of meals, but also more opportunities to nibble, ” said Quentin Molinié, of Darwin of Nutrition. And if the time spent at the table or in the cupboards has increased, a number of other habits are also reinforced : the study of the Fifg shows that 42% of the respondents take the aperitif ” more than before “, and that two in ten respondents have consumed more chocolate during the confinement.

The Fifg has also focused on the profile of those who, within the population, have let the pounds settle in. We learn that it is mostly skinny people and obese. Women residing in the greater paris area, as well as men in rural villages are also more concerned. Finally, ” this weight gain has particularly affected the French people living in large family. Thus, 64 % of confined with more than 4 people have gained weight compared to only 53 % of those confined alone, ” says François Kraus, director of the centre, the Political News to the Fifg. The weight gain, however, has not been a fatality in recent weeks, since 29% of the French have, in contrast, took advantage of the period to lose weight.
