Peter Kay’s 2023 tour announcement is a culmination his gradual return to the spotlight following his cancellation of all 2017 commitments due to personal reasons

Although Peter Kay’s tour announcement was unexpected, it is a sign that the star has been slowly but surely returning to normality five years after he disappeared from the spotlight for personal reasons.

According to some reports, the 48-year-old is planning on a major comeback in the form an arena tour. This will be his first road trip in more than ten years.

In a rare public appearance in April, however, Peter was pictured at the launch of a new wheelchair-accessible ‘wheelyboat’ near Bolton – the comic’s birthplace.

He told his fans that he was doing great and was then invited to be the guest of honor. A gift was presented to him.

Peter made a few jokes for his delighted fans as he launched the boat, which will allow disabled children and adults to take part in water-based activities and sports at The Anderton Centre.

Last month Peter also embarked on his rescheduled six night Dance For Life tour, taking in dates in Manchester and Liverpool. London will follow at the end.

The three-hour dance-a-thon events in which the star acts as host and DJ aim to raise substantial amounts of money for Cancer Research UK.

He opened the show with a rainbow sweatband on the head and a shell suit with drawings of vinyl records.

Jason Manford, a friend and comedian from the north west, made tongues wagging by suggesting that Peter might return to stand-up comedy “soon”.
