After four years of crisis, there are signs of stress among working people in Germany. This is the result of a survey by the Hamburg Pinktum Institute, which the business magazine “Capital” reports on. According to this, every second person (49.4 percent) states that they have less strength today than they did three years ago – largely consistent across all age and hierarchy levels. According to their own account, one in three working people in Germany lacks the energy for their daily work.

In the survey, almost a third of those surveyed (27.7 percent) see work as a drain on energy. But many see the main culprit somewhere else: in German politics (45.8 percent), in the multitude of crises (43.2 percent) and in the country’s economic situation (42.3 percent). In fourth place, those surveyed cited divisions in society as a stressful factor (41.5 percent). This was followed by personal financial worries (39.1 percent) and only in sixth place was one’s own work (27.7 percent).

According to “Capital”, the survey is representative. For the study, more than 1,000 employees were surveyed about their energy reserves in the fourth quarter of 2023.
