After the very weak previous week, the Dax initially stabilized on Monday. Shortly after the opening, the leading German index was 0.19 percent higher at 15,860 points.
The MDax for medium-sized companies increased by 0.21 percent to 26,845.19 points. The leading eurozone index, the EuroStoxx 50, gained around 0.2 percent. Concerns about interest rates and the economy, profit warnings and the slump in Siemens Energy had thrown the Dax back in the previous week.
The Ifo business climate as the most important leading indicator for Germany will be published on Monday. Dekabank chief economist Ulrich Kater expects another significant decline.
