Veronika Grimm is a doer. At least that’s what she says about herself in an interview with “Die Boss” host Simone Menne. Politicians also appreciate this quality. Veronika Grimm has been advising the government on Germany’s economic development since 2020. Last year she helped with the gas price brake “At least now, in these crises, scientists have already achieved a lot. Maybe not always what they wanted. But at least science has an impact,” she says in the podcast.

Grimm had to make some compromises for the gas price brake. Due to the short schedule, it was not possible “to master all challenges” – even though Grimm loves challenges. As an economist, however, she knows how important a good cost-benefit analysis is. In the end, however, her solution was met with heavy criticism . The gas price brake is too unfair, because well-earning people would also be relieved. “Of course you have to take it. You get a beating,” she says on “Die Boss”.

Getting involved, tackling and moving things has been in Grimm’s veins since she was young. Since she had worked in the nursing home and in the youth center, she actually wanted to do something social. But her path ultimately led her to economics, where she was able to understand and explain things in depth. A move that stands her in good stead today. Because especially in times of crisis like these, it is important “that politicians keep the value of scientific advice high. Even if you don’t always follow them and even if the scientists who are breathing down your neck are sometimes incredibly annoying,” she says at ” The bosses”.

In this episode of “Die Boss” you can find out what Grimm’s management style has to do with football, whether economics is a science at all and how our economy should develop in the current crisis.

At “The Boss – Power is Female” top women speak among themselves: hostess and multi-board member Simone Menne (BMW, Deutsche Post DHL, Henkel, among others) meets female bosses from all areas of society to talk to them about their lives and careers. “Die Boss” appears fortnightly on Wednesdays on stern.de and the stern YouTube channel as well as on RTL and all common podcast platforms.
