At a conference in April, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis not only poked fun at his standard themes of diversity, inclusion and “corporate wokeness,” but also took aim at a more surprising target: “One of the things we’re going to ban in Florida this year is this idea of a central bank digital currency,” he told the audience in Pennsylvania, drawing applause. “Guess what’s going to happen? They’re going to try to use it to push an ESG agenda.”
