The price of gas and electricity

The regulated tariffs of sale of gas, applied by Engie to millions of French households, increase of 1.3 % on 1 August. “This increase is 0.3 % for customers who use gas for cooking, 0.7% for those who have a dual purpose, cooking and hot water, and 1.4% for households that heat up the gas “, says the Commission for energy regulation (CRE). In addition, she noted that these rates have declined in any of 24.5 % from 1 January 2019.

Since this summer and until the end of February, 2021, the rate-regulated gas are subject to a mechanism of smoothing put in place by the government. The decrease in the tariff on the 1st July has been deliberately limited, in order to avoid a rise too sharply rates this winter in the wake of a rebound in gas prices.

The regulated tariffs of the electricity also increase of 1.54 % to 24 million subscribers EDF.

Easing to the unemployment insurance

in Mid-July, Jean Castex, has decided to postpone the discussions on the unemployment insurance and the pension reform. It is, therefore, at the beginning of next year as the hardening of the compensation rules should be applied. As a direct consequence, for the people losing their jobs between August 1 and December 31, 2020, the compensation rules will be those in force prior to November 1, 2019. To be entitled to unemployment, you need to have worked four months on the 28 last. Elizabeth Terminal, the minister of Labour justified the non-retroactivity of the measure by technical reasons.

the Beginning of the activity partial long-term

The new device to the activity long-term partial is entered into force Friday, July 31, after the publication of the decree in the official Journal the previous day. While 4.5 million employees have been entitled to receive in June, the government hopes to make it a ” shield anti-dismissal “, especially in the areas facing a reduction in activity is sustainable. The device allows for a reduction of working time up to a maximum of 40 % of working hours under a condition of an agreement for company or branch, 6 to 24 months, validated by the authority and includes commitments on employment and training.

On non-working hours, the employee will receive 84 % of his net salary (or 70 % of its crude), which was calculated from a maximum fee of 4.5 times the minimum wage. As these are a maximum of 40 % of his working time, this guarantees him 93% of his net salary. For its part, the company will receive a compensation of 85 % of the compensation paid to the employee (that is, 15 % of the cost) for an agreement entered into before October 1 and 80 % for an agreement concluded after. The system will therefore be more advantageous than the part-time unemployment, classic, limited to six months and whose compensation will, from the 1st of October, from 84 to 72 % of the net for the employee, and from 85 to 60 % of the cost for companies.
