Not only because of the summer season, the interest in traditional automobile in Germany rises. To 1.1.2020 of the German Association of the automotive industry (VDA) has counted 525.968 vintage Cars with H-plates. The are with a Plus of 11 percent overall 51.452 more vehicles as compared to the balance sheet date of the previous year. The historic vehicles, including motorcycles and commercial vehicles together, the VDA on 595.046 units. Although the number of Cars with H-plates has increased in the past 10 years, from approximately 208,000 in 2011 to now almost 526.000 vintage cars is strong, its share in the total Car stock of only around 1 per cent.

auto classics are cult objects, but are moved by some also as an everyday car, or at least suitable for everyday use in a second car. Classic car expert and restorer Matthias Knödler of “Sporting Cars” in Erlangen see certain Trends in the scene: “The demand for classic cars continues unabated. But even more is asked of the quality. Restored are actually heirlooms, only family. Cars of the late 80s and early 90s would be suitable as an everyday car, you have little electronics on Board and are very reliable vehicles – both the technology and the Mechanics were perfected,” says Knödler. The increase in registration numbers you should not forget, however, that most of the classics are more likely to be moved a little. “Most classic car insurance policies limit the mileage per year on 3000 kilometres,” says Knödler.
