The German Weather Service (DWD) said that “partly severe black ice rain” can still be expected from Saarland to northeastern Bavaria. In the middle and later also in the south of Germany, people have to prepare for massive snowfalls.
The federal states of Saarland, Baden-Württemberg, Bavaria, Rhineland-Palatinate, Hesse, Thuringia and Saxony are affected either completely or partially. According to meteorologists, fresh snow amounts of between three and ten centimeters are possible in the middle and south of Germany, and up to 15 centimeters in places. Constant rain is also to be expected in Baden-Württemberg.
Deutsche Bahn warned of the effects of winter weather on some long-distance routes.
