Route 46 got shut down both ways in Warren County ’cause a wildfire decided to pop up out of nowhere on a Friday afternoon, as per the New Jersey Forest Fire service. This closure is smack dab between Liberty Township and Hackettstown, so if you were planning on cruising down that road, you might wanna find another route. The folks over there are urging residents and drivers to steer clear of the area.
The New Jersey Forest Fire Service is all hands on deck, trying to put out this wildfire that’s tearing through Hackettstown, Warren County. As of 4 p.m., the fire already scorched 100 acres and hasn’t been contained at all. It’s got twenty-five structures in its line of fire, so to speak. The hot spots to look out for are route 46 from Petersburg Road to Johnson Road, along with Tannery Road and Russling Road. They’re still trying to figure out what caused this whole mess, so stay tuned for updates.
