The Network of Crime Victims Assistance Centers (CAVAC) wants to strengthen itself to raise public awareness during Victims and Survivors of Crime Week, which takes place from May 15 to 21.
CAVACs recorded more than 87,5000 crimes against persons in 2020 across Quebec, while CAVAC volunteers supported thousands of victims or witnesses of criminal offences.
Recognized for its role in setting up specialized courts for sexual violence and domestic violence, the Network seeks to expand its teams to help victims or witnesses of criminal offenses as well as their loved ones.
With its 17 centers and some 185 points of service in Quebec, the organization offers post-traumatic and psychosocial intervention services, support through the legal process and information on rights and remedies.
