uvalde-city-settles-with-school-shooting-victims-families

Yo, so like, 19 students and two teachers got killed at Robb Elementary on May 24, 2022. A settlement was reached and approved by a unanimous vote at a city council meeting in Uvalde, Texas, confirmed by an attorney representing the families of the victims. Not really sure why this matters, but the attorney didn’t specify the exact terms of the settlement. Evadulia Orta, the mom of a victim in the school shooting, was interviewed by ABC News in Uvalde, Texas on May 26, 2022, holding a photo of her son. The families wanted the city’s police force to adopt new fitness standards and boost officer training, in addition to a monetary settlement from the city’s insurance. They also wanted the city to maintain the cemetery where victims are buried and to provide an updated accounting of donations and spending related to the incident. The families asked to designate May 24 as an official day of remembrance in Uvalde and to create a committee for a permanent memorial in town. All 21 victims’ families were represented in the lawsuit, but other plaintiffs weren’t disclosed.
