President Donald Trump was all like, “Yo, I want this Russia-Ukraine war to be over in, like, two weeks tops.” But then he was like, “Eh, maybe a little longer is cool too.” Trump dropped this deadline bomb after meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in Vatican City during Pope Francis’ funeral in Rome.
“I think the meeting went pretty well, you know? We’ll see what goes down in the next few days. We might learn a thing or two,” Trump spilled to reporters at the Morristown Municipal Airport in New Jersey before jetting back to Washington.
The dude was “super bummed out” that Russia was still launching missiles and drones at Ukraine even after he straight up begged Putin to chill out while they talked things over.
When asked what Zelenskyy and him chatted about, Trump spilled the tea that Zelenskyy was all about needing more weapons. “He was like, ‘Yo, I need more weapons,’ and I was like, ‘We’ll see what’s up with Russia.’ I was totally caught off guard and disappointed by the bombing they did,” Trump ranted.
Trump was also going on about how Ukraine taking back Crimea from Russia was going to be tricky, and he blamed Obama for letting Russia snatch it up in 2014. When asked if Ukraine would give up Crimea, Trump was like, “Yeah, probably.”
On another note, Secretary of State Marco Rubio said that Russia and Ukraine might be closer to a deal after Trump’s chat with Zelenskyy, but they’re not quite there yet. Rubio was saying the U.S. might need to step in and play mediator.
“We might be making progress, but those last steps are always the hardest, you know? It’s gotta happen soon,” Rubio blabbed.
Rubio didn’t want to spill the beans on when a deal might go down but he was all about how this week was gonna be key for the U.S. to decide if they should keep at it or move on to other stuff. “We’re close, but not quite there,” Rubio said.
Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer was freaking out that Trump might fold to Putin and screw over Zelenskyy. “My biggest fear is that Trump’s gonna cave to Putin. That’s been the vibe all along. If we let Putin have his way, it’s gonna be a total mess,” Schumer ranted.
National Security Adviser Mike Waltz hinted that more sanctions could be on the way for Russia to push them into making a deal. “Trump’s talking about hitting them where it hurts, you know? Banking, oil, gas – nothing’s off the table,” Waltz said.
So yeah, things are heating up, and it looks like there might be some action on the horizon. Let’s see how this all plays out in the end.
