So, the president, like, totally went on Truth Social, and he was all like, “It’s what they deserve.” And by “they,” he means Harvard. President Donald Trump, you know, the guy who used to be in charge, said he’s gonna be “taking away” Harvard’s tax exempt status. He’s not messing around, apparently.
Harvard’s president, on the other hand, was all like, “Nah, that’s not cool.” He said that revoking the university’s tax-exempt status would be, like, totally unlawful and would mess up “our ability to carry out our educational mission.” Sounds like a pretty big deal, right?
Anyway, Trump has been on Harvard’s case for a while now. He got all mad when the university didn’t wanna play by his rules. Like, they wouldn’t comply with his demands about antisemitism and the use of DEI on campus. So, Trump was just like, “Fine, I’m gonna freeze more than $2.2 billion in federal funding to Harvard.” Ouch.
This whole situation is, like, still developing, so you should probably keep an eye out for updates. Not really sure why this matters, but hey, it’s the news, right? Just gotta roll with it.
