trump-speculates-about-third-term-presidency

So, like, President Donald Trump went on TV and told everyone that he’s totally gonna leave the White House after his second term. He chatted with NBC News’ “Meet the Press” and spilled the beans about how he can’t even try for a third term because of some rules or whatever. Trump even mentioned a bunch of other Republican dudes who could take over the whole MAGA thing once he’s out, like Vice President JD Vance and Secretary of State Marco Rubio. He was all like, “I’ll be an eight-year president, you know, two terms and all that jazz. It’s super important to me.”

In the interview with Kristen Welker that aired on Sunday, Trump was like, “Yeah, I’m not joking about this third term thing. My buddies are all like, ‘Hey man, run again!’ But, you know, the rules are kinda in the way.” He mentioned how the Constitution says you can’t be president more than twice, and changing that would be a huge pain in the neck. Like, you need a ton of support from Congress and the states, and it’s just not worth the hassle.

There was this guy from Tennessee, Rep. Andy Ogles, who tried to change the Constitution so the prez could serve three terms, but it didn’t really go anywhere. Then this other dude, Rep. Dan Goldman from New York, was like, “Nah, let’s stick with the two-term rule,” since he was all about the 22nd Amendment and stuff.

Trump said he hasn’t had any official meetings about going for a third term, but he’s heard some wild ideas floating around. Like, there was this plan where Vance would run for president and then hand the job over to Trump, which sounds kinda sketchy. And then there’s talk about doing a write-in vote, even though that’s probably not allowed.

Last month, people started freaking out when Trump’s company started selling these hats that said “Trump 2028.” But Trump was quick to shut down any rumors, saying he just wants to do his four years and then pass the torch to someone else. He’s all like, “There are tons of people selling those hats, but that’s not my thing. I wanna hand it off to a great Republican.”

Trump thinks Vance could totally take over the MAGA brand, calling it the greatest political movement ever. But when Welker asked if Vance would be the top choice as his successor, Trump didn’t really commit to anything. He was all, “Yeah, Vance could be it. But, you know, it’s way too early to say.”

Rubio also got a shoutout from Trump, who thinks he’s a “great” potential GOP leader. Rubio has been doing all sorts of jobs in Trump’s administration, and Trump seems to have a lot of faith in him. He even hinted that Rubio could handle being both secretary of state and national security adviser, just like Henry Kissinger did back in the day.

When Welker asked if Rubio could juggle both roles “indefinitely,” Trump was like, “Yeah, sure, why not? He’s a busy guy, but he can handle it.” Trump also mentioned how there are like 20 other Republicans who could totally run for president in 2028, but he’s more focused on the upcoming midterms.

The midterms are super important, with Republicans trying to keep control of Congress despite some backlash against Trump’s policies. His approval ratings have been dropping, especially when it comes to tariffs and stuff. But Trump is confident that he can turn things around and help the GOP win big in the midterms.

So yeah, Trump’s not going for a third term, and he’s got his eye on the future of the Republican Party. Who knows what’s gonna happen next, right? It’s all up in the air, but Trump is ready to keep on fighting for his party.
