New Jersey Transit riders are in for a bumpy ride as train engineers went on strike, leaving around 100,000 daily commuters scrambling to find alternative ways to get around. All NJ Transit trains have come to a screeching halt, along with Metro-North trains on the Pascack Valley and Port Jervis lines. Talk about a major inconvenience for everyone trying to navigate through their daily routines.
Despite the chaos, there are a few options available for those trying to navigate through New Jersey without the usual train services. Park and ride service will be up and running during morning and evening peak times, catering to commuters during the rush hours between 5 a.m. to 10 a.m. in the morning and 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the evening, depending on the location. It may not be the most convenient solution, but hey, at least it’s something, right?
When it comes to transportation to and from PNC Bank Arts Center, Academy Bus will be providing buses, but hold up, they won’t be accepting NJ Transit tickets. Yep, you heard that right – new tickets will need to be purchased. As for NJ Transit buses, there will be enhanced service, but it’s on a first-come, first-serve basis and with limited capacity. So, make sure to factor in extra time for your commute and double-check all time tables to ensure you don’t miss the bus. Remember, all NJ Transit buses, light rail, and park & ride services will be cross-honoring tickets, except for the routes provided by Academy buses. PATH trains and Amtrak won’t be cross-honoring tickets, just to add to the fun. West of Hudson Metro-North lines will be the saving grace by cross-honoring NJ Transit tickets. So, there you have it – a mixed bag of options to navigate through the transit turmoil in New Jersey.
