The Nature Protection Service (Seprona) of the Civil Guard has investigated two people, a man and a woman aged 55 and 54 respectively, as alleged perpetrators of a crime against land use planning and urban planning and another crime for disobedience by promoting the execution of a series of buildings in an area protected by the Natura 2000 Network within the municipality of Navalcán.
A citizen complaint started the Zepalcán operation and allowed the Seprona of the Toledo Civil Guard to locate a series of buildings located within protection zones as community interest of the Sierra de San Vicente and Valles del Tiétar and Alberche, and the area of special protection of birds Valles del Tiétar, del Rosarito and Navalcán, both included in the Natura 2000 Network.
The investigation has revealed that these buildings began more than 10 years ago, stopping in 2009 due to a resolution of the General Directorate of Environmental Assessment of the Junta de Comunidades de Castilla-La Mancha, which ordered their immediate stoppage and restoration of the affected areas.
It has been this year when the Civil Guard has discovered that these works continued to be carried out and increased in size, affecting this protected area.
These construction actions have been carried out without obtaining the relevant permits from the competent authorities, such as the City Council and the Tajo Hydrographic Confederation, and disobeying the resolution on unfavorable environmental impact of the Board.
