Agents of the Seprona of the Civil Guard of Vinaròs investigate the owner of a farm in the municipality of Alcalà de Xivert (Castellón) when verifying that he had fifteen wild cattle on his farm with “obvious symptoms” of malnutrition and another six more deceased and with different states of decomposition.

The owner of the farm is considered the alleged perpetrator of a crime against flora and fauna and domestic animals, as reported by the armed institute in a statement. The proceedings were sent to the acting court of Guardia de Vinaròs.

In addition to the first farm, where the fifteen specimens were in poor condition and the six corpses, the agents located a horse and another dog on another plot belonging to the same owner, similarly “totally unattended and in an advanced state of thinness.”

The civil guards urgently and immediately mobilized the veterinary services of the Ministry of Agriculture to take measures aimed at the protection of animals and attend to them as soon as possible.

During the investigation, in addition to finding the dead cattle in their facilities, they verified the lack of food and water in the entire livestock farm. In the development of the operation, the civil guards managed to identify and locate the owner of the plot, who has been investigated as the alleged perpetrator of the crime against flora, fauna and domestic animals for animal abuse.

Thanks to the coordinated action of the Seprona agents with the veterinary services of the Generalitat Valenciana de la Vall d’Alba, it has been possible to save thirteen cattle, which are recovering in different livestock farms, while the horse and the dog have already have been given up for adoption.
