The lawyer and activist Dolors Feliu has been elected this Saturday as the new president of the ANC with 48 votes, compared to the 16 that the former ERC councilor and current second vice president of the Assembly of Representatives of the Consell per la República, Jordi Pesarrodona , the entity has informed in a statement. Feliu, who years ago was a lawyer in the Catalan Parliament, will thus replace Elisenda Paluzie.

The pro-independence entity celebrates the plenary session of the new secretariat of the ANC in Vilafranca del Penedès (Barcelona), which will also serve to renew the vice-presidency, the secretariat and the treasury of the entity, positions that are yet to be elected this Saturday.

In the elections to the secretariat of the ANC, Pessarrodona was the most voted candidate after obtaining 2,306 votes, followed by Feliu with 2,188 and the writer and former CUP deputy Julià de Jòdar with 1,197.

Feliu was a member of the Assembly of Representatives of the Consell per la República under Carles Puigdemont but left office a little over a month ago to focus on his candidacy to lead the ANC.
