The dome of the temple of the Monastery of Our Lady of Alconada in Ampudia (Palencia) has collapsed on Tuesday morning without causing human damage, as confirmed by official sources. In the absence of clarifying the causes, technicians from the Diocese of Palencia have traveled to assess the situation, accompanied by the parish priest and the mayor of the same town.
The collapse comes after a fire on August 5 burned down the new roof, which was being installed in the temple of the monastery. Subsequently, he set a fire on the same deck on October 12.
After these two incidents, the diocese planned to resume repair work on the roof in the near future.
