A body peeling cleanses the skin and removes dead skin cells. This makes the skin smoother and softer in the long term. Using peeling is easy and can be a regular part of your skin care routine. Read here which body peelings are available and what they are supposed to do. You will also learn how to make your own peeling.

Here you will find a selection of different body scrubs suitable for different needs and skin types.

The body peeling from Meina Naturkosmetik relies on naturalness. It is handmade and vegan. Coconut oil, organic almond oil and olive oil are said to be nourishing and the sugar they contain are said to pleasantly exfoliate the skin.

Sugar provides the exfoliating effect in the Rituals body scrub. Nourishing oils complement the peeling. The product is said to be particularly suitable for dry skin, contains rice milk and smells of cherry blossoms.

Depending on the ingredients, peelings can have different effects on the skin. Australian Bodycare’s body scrub contains crushed sandalwood nut shells that gently exfoliate the body. The body scrub also contains natural Australian tea tree oil, is vegan and is said to be particularly suitable for impure skin with pimples.

Pra Naturals’ paraben-free coffee scrub is made from Colombian coffee beans and blended with essential oils and sea salt. It is said to have a moisturizing and skin-soothing effect on the skin. Due to the coffee it contains, it is said to stimulate blood circulation and thus have a skin-tightening effect.

2-in-1 products such as the shower peeling from Nivea are also popular. It combines nourishing cream with a cleansing peeling. Free of parabens and paraffins, it is suitable for normal skin.

The word peeling comes from English (to peel) and means something like peeling or peeling. When body peeling is mentioned in the context of a dermatological treatment, what is meant is that the top layer of skin is freed of dirt and dead skin cells by fine particles in the peeling. This works because friction can loosen loose particles and then wash them off. In addition, body scrubs have a pleasant scent and can contain nourishing ingredients such as body oils. However, there are not only body peelings, but also peelings for the face, lips, feet and hands. But you don’t necessarily have to use different peelings; you just need to be careful when peeling your face. The skin is much more sensitive and the exfoliating particles of body peelings may be too coarse for the facial skin. Therefore, use peelings on your face that have been specially developed for this purpose.

Less is more, because every peeling removes part of the stratum corneum. If you exfoliate your skin too often, you can weaken its natural protective barrier. Skin types and their needs are also very different. This means you can safely exfoliate healthy, normal skin once a week. However, if you have oily skin that is prone to impurities, you can also do two peels per week. Dry and sensitive skin should be treated more carefully. Exfoliate as needed and use mild peelings with nourishing ingredients. If you have neurodermatitis, wounds or sunburn, you should not use body peelings to avoid putting additional strain on the skin.

You don’t have to resort to expensive cosmetic products; you can also make a good body peeling yourself inexpensively and sustainably.

Ingredients

Here’s how it works: Coconut oil solidifies at low temperatures and can be easily processed into a body peeling. Combine the easily mouldable mass with sugar and honey and mix everything well. The peeling effect is created by adding sugar, while honey and coconut oil are said to care for the skin. The body peeling is best used when it has a viscous consistency that is neither too liquid nor too solid. You can also apply the homemade peeling in the shower as usual and then wash it off again.

Which salt is suitable for a body peeling?

Of course you can also use salt instead of sugar. Coarse-grain Himalayan salt is best. However, if you tend to have sensitive skin, it is better to use sugar and not salt as it could irritate sensitive skin.
