The cherry blossoms have begun in Bonn. The spectacle attracts thousands of onlookers and photo hunters every year. In the narrow streets of the old town, the branches of flowering trees form a pink canopy. Hundreds of people were already out and about in the trendy district on Friday at noon. Families with children used the Easter holidays to watch the spectacle. The pink sea of flowers is a popular selfie motif, including for tourists from Asia. Many stage themselves under the trees and can be photographed in a lavish manner.
The cherry trees are in full bloom now.
The city of Bonn has taken several measures to regulate the rush. On this weekend (April 15/16) and the following weekend, two streets will be closed to through traffic between 11 a.m. and 8 p.m. Toilet cubicles were set up. In addition, the streets should be cleaned more frequently and the wastebaskets in the neighborhood emptied at least twice a day. There is a ban on the passage of coaches during the cherry blossom season.
Japanese cherry trees are blooming later this cool spring than in previous years. Already on the Easter weekend, many visitors were out and about in the streets. But apart from a few flowers, only pink buds showed up.
On Friday, the blossoms in the streets were open in all their glory. At noon, camera teams filmed the spectacle in the best weather, and drones were also used.
