Indian American executive Ravi Ahuja has been appointed as the President & CEO of Sony Pictures Entertainment, taking over from Tony Vinciquerra, who is stepping down as chairman & CEO. Ahuja, who is currently the Chairman of Global Television Studios and President and COO, will officially start his new role at the renowned studio on Jan. 2, 2025, as announced by the entertainment giant on Oct. 1.

Vinciquerra will continue to be involved with SPE in an advisory capacity as a non-executive Chairman until the end of December 2025. This leadership transition marks another milestone for Indian-American executives taking on key roles in major multinational corporations.

Ahuja will be reporting to Sony Group Corporation Chairman and CEO Kenichiro Yoshida and Sony Group Corporation President, COO, and CFO Hiroki Totoki. Yoshida expressed his confidence in Ahuja, highlighting his contributions to navigating the challenges in the media and entertainment industry and positioning SPE for future growth.

Vinciquerra also praised Ahuja’s leadership abilities and expressed his belief that SPE will continue to prosper under Ahuja’s direction. Ahuja himself expressed his excitement and honor in leading SPE, emphasizing the studio’s rich history of storytelling and the talented colleagues he gets to work with globally.

Before joining SPE, Ahuja oversaw all production businesses for Sony Pictures Television (SPT) and the studio’s India business. Under his leadership, SPT and its production companies have produced numerous award-winning television series, showcasing his expertise in the industry.

Since joining SPE, Ahuja has been instrumental in the studio’s M&A activities, including acquisitions of notable companies like Industrial Media, Bad Wolf, and Pixomondo, as well as the sale of GSN Games to Scopely. His vast experience in the entertainment sector, including roles at Walt Disney Television and Fox Networks Group, has prepared him for this new leadership position at Sony Pictures Entertainment.
