According to Deutsche Bahn, a technical fault in northern Germany is currently leading to a complete standstill in long-distance traffic. All ICE, IC and EC trains in northern Germany are affected, the railway said on Saturday morning.
“Unfortunately, there are short-term train and stop cancellations,” said the railway’s website. The company recommended travelers to get information shortly before planned trips via www.bahn.de/reiseauskunft, via the “DB Navigator” app or by calling 030/2970. The Bahn website said: “As soon as we have new information, we will keep you updated here.”
For the time being, there was no further information about the disruption. The railway only spoke of a “technical fault on the route”. Many people may have been caught off guard on the drive into the weekend.
