According to Deutsche Bahn, a technical fault in northern Germany is currently leading to a complete standstill in long-distance traffic. All ICE, IC and EC trains in northern Germany and at least some regional traffic are affected, the railway said on Saturday morning.
According to the company, the reason for the severe problems is a technical fault in the train radio. Therefore, “in large parts of northern Germany, no long-distance train services are currently possible with Deutsche Bahn,” it said on “bahn.de” on Saturday morning. Unfortunately, there are currently short-term train and stop cancellations. Regional traffic is also partially affected: the regional express and regional train connections in the Lower Saxony and Bremen area.
Deutsche Bahn recommended that its travelers inform themselves shortly before planned trips via www.bahn.de/reiseauskunft, via the “DB Navigator” app or by calling 030/2970. The Bahn website said: “As soon as we have new information, we will keep you updated here.” Many people may have been caught off guard on the drive into the weekend.
