The exact fate of a missing 21-year-old from Eigeltingen in the Konstanz district remains unclear even a year after her disappearance. At the end of January, her 43-year-old ex-partner was sentenced to eight and a half years in prison in a circumstantial trial by the Konstanz district court for, among other things, bodily harm resulting in death. Both the defense and the public prosecutor’s office appealed against the verdict, as a spokeswoman for the regional court announced. There is still no trace of the woman’s body to this day.
There are no new approaches in the case, said a spokesman for the public prosecutor’s office. The German remains silent about the allegations. “If a new investigation approach were to emerge, the search would be carried out again. But at the moment nothing is happening.”
The young woman was reported missing by her mother on February 19th. According to the public prosecutor’s office, she and the alleged perpetrator were a couple from August 2021 to October 2022. Because he is said to have cheated on her with his estranged wife, the 21-year-old separated from him. After the breakup, he is said to have hit her.
The alleged perpetrator is said to have stalked the 21-year-old using a GPS transmitter. He is said to have secretly recorded her with a selfie stick. Pictures of this were shown in court.
Voice messages documented the defendant’s desperate attempts to get his ex-girlfriend back. He doesn’t want to harm her, she doesn’t need to be afraid. “Please give me another chance” and “just you and me,” he said in the recordings. He kept talking himself into a rage. The messages were punctuated by an urgent gasp.
The public prosecutor spoke in court of possession. The man is also said to have secretly filmed the woman having sex with someone else. Shortly before or after her death, he is said to have taken nude photos of her. The court assumes that he strangled the 21-year-old in her apartment on the night of February 19th or pushed her so hard that she died.
According to investigators, after the woman’s disappearance, he said that his ex had contacted him to take care of her dog Molly. She wants to go skiing. Family and friends of the missing people judged this depiction to be unrealistic. The 21-year-old’s car was found in a parking lot in Radolfzell on Lake Constance a few days after the alleged crime.
Several searches for the 21-year-old within the past twelve months had been unsuccessful. Police officers had combed through the forests and divers had searched for her in Lake Constance. According to the police, no further actions are planned at the moment. A spokesman explained that the likelihood of finding the body is low. “However, it is not ruled out.”
