Trump and UAE ink huge AI datacenter project

So, Trump recently made a deal with the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to put up this massive datacenter all about artificial intelligence. It’s part of a bunch of AI projects announced during the president’s trip to the Middle East. The plan is for the facility to eventually run on five gigawatts of energy and cover a whopping 10 square miles. The Commerce Department says they’re gonna use nuclear, solar, and gas power to keep those emissions in check. Plus, they’re gonna team up with some American companies to run the show.

The datacenter is also gonna give the UAE better access to advanced chips. No names were dropped in the announcement, but NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang was spotted hanging out with Trump at Qasr Al Watan. Trump hinted at Huang’s involvement, saying it’s gonna be a “massive project.” Huang himself mentioned that his company is gonna drop a ton of cash on chips and electronics made in the good ol’ U.S. of A. over the next few years. Oh, and he recently had a chat with Trump at Mar-a-Lago, according to NBC News.

Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick called this deal “historic” and said it’s gonna pump a bunch of money into advanced semiconductors and data centers in both countries. American companies will run the data centers in the UAE and offer cloud services across the region. This project is gonna be the biggest AI campus outside of the United States.

Trump to sign proclamation honoring Asian American and Pacific Islander heritage month

Trump is gonna sign a presidential proclamation today to celebrate Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month. This is part of his administration’s efforts to recognize the contributions of over 20 million AAPI Americans. It’s also a big deal because Steven Cheung, a Chinese American, just got named the first AAPI White House communications director. Cheung is joined by other AAPI folks in the administration, like Second Lady Usha Vance, Navy vet Walt Nauta, and White House Deputy Press Secretary Kush Desai.

Also, Trump said he’s gonna meet up with Putin as soon as they can figure out a time. He wanted to jet over right away but decided to head back home instead. Gotta see that new grandkid, right? Peace talks between Russia and Ukraine got pushed back a bit, with Putin skipping out yesterday. Trump made it clear that nothing’s gonna happen until he and Putin sit down together.

Trump meets with business leaders in Abu Dhabi

This morning, Trump hung out with some business big shots at Abu Dhabi’s presidential palace, Qasr Al Watan. He was checking out all these exhibits on energy, health care, aviation, and other investments. Trump was feeling pretty good about being the U.S.’s top cheerleader, talking up the country to all these business folks. He even took a jab at Biden, wondering out loud if he’d be doing the same thing. Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick and Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent were there too, soaking in all the business talk.

Bruce Springsteen calls Trump ‘unfit’ for office at U.K. concert

So, Bruce Springsteen didn’t hold back at a concert in Manchester, England, kicking off his “Land of Hope and Dreams” tour with some harsh words for the Trump administration. He accused them of being all about authoritarianism, rolling back civil rights, and doing those illegal deportations. Springsteen, known for his liberal views and support for Democratic candidates, got the crowd going by calling on the power of art, music, and rock ‘n’ roll in these “dangerous times.” According to him, the current administration is corrupt, incompetent, and downright treasonous.

Trump says he doesn’t want Apple building iPhones in India

Trump had a little chat with Apple CEO Tim Cook about the tech giant’s plans to make its products in India. He wasn’t too happy about it, telling Cook he didn’t want Apple setting up shop in India. Trump mentioned the $500 billion investment Apple announced for the U.S. back in February and wasn’t too thrilled about the move to diversify production away from China. Apple’s been working on ramping up production in India to make a quarter of all global iPhones there in the next few years, aiming to reduce their reliance on China.
