In view of the escalating violence between the conflicting parties in Sudan, Germany began an evacuation campaign on Sunday. According to its own statements, the Bundeswehr flew more than 700 people out of the country on the Horn of Africa by Tuesday, including more than 200 Germans. A total of around a thousand Bundeswehr soldiers were deployed. The people were first taken to Jordan, where the Bundeswehr had stationed additional soldiers in case the situation escalated.
