nyc-area-weekend-storms-60mph-wind-gusts-forecasted

After several soggy weekends in April, May is starting the same way. Showers and storms, some possibly severe, are in the forecast this weekend. But it won’t just be Saturday and Sunday. Wet weather will take us well into next week.

So, like, if you were hoping for some sunshine and outdoor fun this weekend, you might want to rethink those plans. The weather forecast is looking pretty gloomy, with showers and storms lurking around the corner. But hey, at least Saturday won’t be a total washout. I mean, it’ll start off dry, warm, and humid.

You can probably get away with wearing your baseball cap to shield yourself from any random showers that might pop up during the day. The rain should be pretty light if it decides to make an appearance during the Yankees game against the Rays. Fingers crossed for no rain delays, am I right?

It’s only after the game ends that we’ll see a higher chance of showers and storms rolling in. Saturday evening is when things could get a little dicey, especially along and west of the I-95 corridor. Strong winds, heavy downpours, and lots of lightning could be on the menu.

The risk of severe weather isn’t super high, but it’s there. On a scale of 1 to 5, we’re looking at a 1 (low) threat level for Saturday. Still, keep an eye out for those isolated storms that might bring gusty winds or hail. You might wake up Sunday morning to find some tree branches scattered around.

The low-pressure system that’s creeping into the region this weekend is gonna stick around for a while, bringing us more rainy days. Sunday will start off quiet but expect those showers to ramp up later in the day. And if you’re participating in the 5 Boro Bike Tour, you might have to deal with some cloudy skies and possible sprinkles.

As we head into the work week, the rain will keep on coming, possibly even with a storm or two in the mix. The good news is that the rain is spread out over a few days, so we’re not too worried about flash floods. But hey, watch out for some minor flooding in low-lying areas that get hit with heavy rain.

The soaking we’re gonna get will hopefully help ease the drought that’s been hanging around since last fall. Farmers and gardeners in the area might actually be pretty stoked about all this rain. And hey, it’ll give us a break from all that pesky tree and grass pollen that’s been driving us nuts.

All in all, it’s gonna be a pretty messy week ahead, weather-wise. So, grab that umbrella or raincoat if you haven’t already. You’re gonna need it. And hey, at least the plants will be happy, right?

Don’t get me wrong, the rain can be a bit of a drag, but it’s definitely necessary. Mother Nature’s gotta do her thing. So, stay dry out there, folks. And maybe try to enjoy the sound of rain on the roof while you can.
