The corona incidence for Berlin has continued to decrease and the number of patients in hospitals with corona infection has fallen slightly. The Robert Koch Institute (RKI) gave the incidence value on Thursday at around 150. A week ago it was 189, in the weeks before that the number of new infections registered per 100,000 inhabitants was over 300 within seven days.

However, the incidence does not provide a complete picture of the infection situation. Experts assume a high number of cases not recorded by the RKI – mainly because not all infected people have a PCR test done. Only positive PCR tests count in the statistics.

The RKI registered 1002 new corona infections in Berlin. This brings the total number of cases registered in the capital since the beginning of the pandemic in spring 2020 to almost 1,350,000. Two new deaths were reported to the RKI. So far, there have been a total of 5040 deaths in Berlin in connection with a corona infection.

According to the situation report in Berlin, the hospitalization incidence was 11.3. This value indicates the number of hospital admissions per 100,000 inhabitants in connection with a corona infection. 661 patients with Corona were in hospitals. The occupancy of the intensive care units was given as 5.7 percent or 62 Covid patients. About a month ago, the number of patients with corona in hospitals was 16 percent. At that time, 875 patients with corona disease or infection were treated.
