manhattan-subway-service-disrupted-by-morningside-heights-gas-ncident

Evacuations are happening right now in Morningside Heights ’cause apparently, someone hit a high-pressure gas line, according to the FDNY. They got word of this happening just before 11 a.m. at 3081 Broadway, somewhere between West 122nd and LaSalle E streets. Luckily, no one got hurt in this whole ordeal, which is good news. Our pals over at News 4 who were on the scene mentioned that there was a super loud noise in the area, but it’s all quiet now as they work on fixing things up.

Gas service has been cut off for some folks, and they’ve made sure to secure those valves, so at least other utilities aren’t affected. But here’s the kicker – the No. 1 train service in the area has been shut down in both directions between 96 St and 168 St-Washington Hts because of this whole situation. Yeah, you read that right, trains ain’t running through there right now, so you might wanna find another way to get around if you were planning on taking the train.

If you’re driving, the city is telling you to steer clear of the area. They’re warning about traffic delays, road closures, transit troubles, and emergency peeps around West 122nd Street & Broadway in Manhattan. So, make sure to look for different routes to avoid getting stuck in all that mess.

And hey, if you happen to smell gas or suspect there’s a leak, don’t just stand there – leave the area right away and call 911 from somewhere safe. Safety first, right? Keep that in mind, folks. This whole thing is still developing, so we’ll keep you posted on any updates as they come in. Stay safe out there!
