About two months after the fire on a farm near Gelnhausen in the Main-Kinzig district, investigations into the suspect are ongoing. The woman is now in custody in Germany, said a spokesman for the public prosecutor in Hanau. The then 55-year-old was arrested in Switzerland after the fire last August and was initially in custody pending extradition.
The woman is suspected of intentionally setting the fire in the historic apartment building. Since there were several residents in the house at the time of the fire, the investigators accuse her of serious arson and attempted insidious murder using means that are dangerous to the public. Residents were able to escape by themselves. The fire caused damage of more than 1.5 million euros.
The woman initially disappeared with her car and her two dogs after the fire broke out.
