Mr. Ströbele, we are sitting here at your home in a stately apartment in an old building on the edge of the Tiergarten – high ceilings, beautiful parquet. Our readers are more likely to assume you are in a Kreuzberg political community.
I know everyone thinks Ströbele is from Kreuzberg. But he doesn’t live there and has never lived there. I bought this apartment in 1984, the officers of the Prussian king used to stay here. Where we are sitting now is my office, and my private rooms are in the back. That was always practical for me: the Tiergarten District Court is right across the street, with the Criminal Court and the prison just behind it. As a lawyer, those were my daily workplaces. Everything can be reached on foot in five minutes.
