jeanine-pirro-appointed-top-prosecutor-by-president-trump

Jeanine Pirro is going to be the interim U.S. attorney for the District of Columbia, according to President Donald Trump. The flashy announcement came in a post on Truth Social, a platform Trump is trying to make happen. Apparently, Ed Martin, who was filling in as D.C.’s top prosecutor for a bit, won’t be sticking around permanently. The word on the street is that he lost favor with some big Republicans in the Senate. ABC News had dropped a hint earlier that Pirro might be the one for the job, but the White House and Fox News are keeping their lips sealed for now. Pirro has been in Trump’s corner for a while, going way back to her days as a hotshot prosecutor in New York. She was one of the first to jump on the Trump train in 2016 and even stood up for him when that cringeworthy “Access Hollywood” tape leaked.

After Trump took an L in the 2020 election, Pirro started spreading some tall tales about election fraud involving voting machines. She got herself wrapped up in a lawsuit from Dominion Voting Systems for pushing bogus claims about their products. Fox News had to cough up a ridiculous amount of money to settle the matter and admit they were full of it. In 2019, Pirro got a slap on the wrist from Fox News for throwing shade at Democratic Congresswoman Ilhan Omar’s loyalty to the good ol’ U.S. of A. because of her Muslim faith. Drama, drama, drama.

Now, Martin had his sights set on becoming the big cheese prosecutor in one of the country’s most important U.S. attorney’s offices. He’s been holding down the fort as the interim U.S. attorney since the beginning of the administration, but his time in the hot seat is up on May 20. Martin was all about Trump’s “Stop the Steal” campaign in 2021 and even popped up at the Capitol on Jan. 6 when things got wild. Trump mentioned that Martin might find a new home at the Department of Justice, so it’s not all bad news for him.

Right before he skipped town in 2021, Trump threw a bone to Pirro’s ex-husband, Albert Pirro, by giving him a last-minute pardon. Albert got himself in hot water over two decades ago with 34 counts of conspiracy and tax evasion. He tried to write off over a million bucks in fancy personal expenses as business write-offs. Talk about pushing the envelope.

All in all, it’s a wild ride in the world of D.C. politics. Who knows what twists and turns are waiting just around the corner. But hey, that’s the game we play when we’re dealing with the big shots in charge. So buckle up, folks. It’s gonna be a bumpy ride.
