Iran is so ready to sign this nuclear deal with some conditions, like totally, with President Donald Trump, in exchange for lifting those economic sanctions, you know? Like, it’s a big deal. Ali Shamkhani, who is all high up and stuff as a top adviser to Iran’s supreme leader, spilled the beans to NBC News on Wednesday, spillin’ all the tea. He’s like, “Yeah, Iran would be down to commit to never making those nuclear weapons, gettin’ rid of all that highly enriched uranium that can be used for bad stuff, only enrich uranium for civilian use, and let the inspectors do their thing, all in exchange for lifting the sanctions ASAP.”
So, like, Shamkhani was asked if Iran would totally sign on the dotted line if those conditions were met, and he was like, “Heck yeah, we would.” It’s like the clearest statement yet from someone in the supreme leader’s inner circle about what Iran wants and is willing to do to make a deal happen. And you know, the supreme leader is the big cheese when it comes to national security decisions. Shamkhani was like, “It’s still possible, you know? If the Americans actually follow through on their promises, we could totally have a better relationship and stuff. It might actually get better in the near future.”
But then, like, Trump offered Iran this “olive branch” mixed in with some threats of more sanctions if they don’t agree to limit their nuclear program. Shamkhani was all like, “Dude, where’s this olive branch you speak of? All we see is barbed wire.” He’s frustrated with Trump’s attitude and threats, you know? And Trump keeps saying Iran can’t have nukes, while Iran is all, “We’re not even tryin’ to do that.” But the U.N.’s nuclear watchdog is like, “Uh, they kinda have enough uranium to make six bombs, just sayin’.” So, there have been talks between the U.S. and Iran about the whole nuclear program thing, and it seems kinda promising. Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi thinks the negotiations are tough but useful, you know? Iran is all like, “We’re not giving up this whole enrichment thing, but maybe we can change some stuff to build trust or somethin’.”
There’s this worry that Netanyahu, the Israeli Prime Minister, could mess things up by talking to people in Washington behind the scenes, you know? Shamkhani is like, “If the Americans can keep Netanyahu out of it, we can totally make this deal happen.” And apparently, Trump and Netanyahu are not seeing eye to eye on how to deal with Iran. Netanyahu wants to go all military on Iran, but Trump is like, “Let’s make a deal and avoid all that drama.” So, there’s some tension there, you know? It’s like a whole soap opera, but with nukes.
