A 27-year-old man is said to have injured a 30-year-old in the thigh with a knife in Kreuzberg and then attacked police officers. The injured 30-year-old alerted the police on Saturday afternoon and said he had been attacked by a man with a knife on Wrangelstrasse, the police said on Sunday. According to the victim, the alleged perpetrator fled to Görlitzer Park after the attack.
A little later, police officers managed to locate a man in Görlitzer Park who matched the description of the injured person. When the man saw the police officers, he rushed towards them and hit them with his fists. The officers brought the 27-year-old to the ground and tied him up. The man resisted arrest and attempted to injure himself by banging his head on the ground. The police were able to secure a knife from the alleged perpetrator.
Shortly after the arrest, the suspect no longer showed any vital signs, so the officers untied him and had to resuscitate him several times. Alarmed rescue workers took the 27-year-old to a hospital. He said he had used various drugs and alcohol. The investigations are ongoing.
